About Siyabonga Mbambo

Siyabonga Mbambo grew up in South Africa surrounded by a world where spirituality was not separate from everyday life, it was woven into it. The stories of ancestors, the rhythms of nature, the wisdom of elders, and the unseen forces believed to shape existence formed part of the landscape of his childhood.

But as he grew older, another question began to emerge: What happens when a people lose the knowledge that once explained who they were?

That question became a lifelong journey.

Mbambo's search has taken him beyond inherited beliefs and into science, philosophy, history, and the forgotten intellectual traditions of Africa. He explores the meeting point between ancient indigenous knowledge and modern scientific thought, tracing fragments of ancestral understanding that were disrupted, suppressed, or destroyed through centuries of colonisation, religious transformation, and cultural displacement.

His writing is driven by a simple but unsettling conviction: perhaps humanity has forgotten more than it has discovered.

In Nothingless and In Search of the Light, Mbambo invites readers into that search. His books challenge conventional ideas about creation, consciousness, spirituality, truth, and reality while asking whether science and ancient knowledge may be approaching some of the same mysteries from opposite directions.

His work is neither an attempt to romanticise the past nor to reject science in favour of tradition. Instead, it asks whether the two can meet—and whether recovering what was lost might help humanity understand what it has become.

For Mbambo, writing is therefore more than storytelling. It is an excavation: a search through memory, history, science, spirituality and the human imagination for fragments of knowledge buried beneath the narratives inherited by modern civilisation.

His books do not ask readers simply to believe. They ask them to remember, to question and to search for the light.
